History of the Hunt

History:	Prior to 1934 the Bewcastle Foxhounds were trencher fed. A committee was then formed and the late Victor Hall became Master and hunted hounds until his retirement, for health reasons, in 1948. E L Proud and R Storey then took over as Joint Masters until the end of the season, 1954-55, when Mr Storey retired. Mr Proud continued to hunt and kennel hounds until his son, Robert Proud, took over as huntsman in 1961, becoming Master in 1978. In 1999, he handed over the horn to his son, Robert Proud Junior.
