||From 1853 to 1883 the country was hunted by a Farmers, pack, after which Lord Throwley formed a pack of Beagles, and thereafter a pack of Harriers. The present Blean Beagles were formed in 1909 by William Dawes who made his 8-year old daughter, Betty, the Master. She continued in this capacity until her death in September 1990, having served the longest Mastership in history, and gained an entry in the Guinness Book of Records. The pack has had subscriptions since 1921. Betty McKeever died in 1990 and her executors continued the Hunt for a season until the masters took over in 1991.
