History of the Hunt

History:	The pack originated in 1745, and was originally hunted by farmers. In 1891, Mr Austin took them over, and they were hunted by members of the University until 1902, when the farmers took them again. In 1942, Betty Gingell took over the mastership and maintained the harriers as a private pack until her death in October 1995. On 1st November 1995 the pack was officially disbanded, but the Hunt is kept on in name by Mrs Gingell’s son.
