History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt dates from 1764. It was formerly called the Cashelmore Hounds, and the country as at present constituted has existed since 1764, when the Beamishes of Cashelmore took control. Hounds were privately owned till 1865, when a club was formed, then privately from 1913 when the ODriscolls of Bandon took over the Mastership. The pack has been privately owned by the ODriscolls ever since.

Hunt Country

Hunt Country:

The country is about 23 miles square, and lies all in County Cork, west of Bandon. There is some very good farming land and some particularly rough, rugged country to the west: the farther west, the more rugged. Obstacles are varied, with mostly high and narrow dry stone and earth banks. A very versatile horse is required.
