History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt was formed in 1984 from the amalgamation of the Essex Farmers and Essex Union Hunts. The Essex Union originated from Lord Petres Hunt in 1822. Reports indicate hunt was disbanded during the 2017/2018 season after having been operated from the Essex Hunt kennels for a short period.

Hunt Country:

The country which lies to the south of Chelmsford, Essex extends approximately 25 miles east to west, and 15 miles north to south. Neighbouring packs are the Essex and the East Essex to the north. The southern boundary is formed by the Thames Estuary and the city of London lies to the west. It is mostly arable with some woodland country. There is also some grass, especially on the marshes of the Dengie Hundred. The varied country requires a mount which can cope both with the large ditches and numerous jumps and with the heavy going.
