History of the Hunt

History:	Records found show that the Hunt was started on 1st January 1780, as a Hunt Club, each member owning a number of hounds. The first Master whose name is recorded was Mr Turner, MP for Truro, and to him succeeded members of the Hussey Vivian family of Swansea. During this period the pack hunted fox and hare; the members subscription was 25 guineas, and each member gave a fortnightly dinner to his fellows. In 1839 Charles Danbury became Master and hunted fox only; he died in the same season.

Hunt Country

Hunt Country:

The country, which lies in Cornwall, extends some 30 miles to the east of the kennels and 20 miles west. Convenient centres: Truro, Helston and Falmouth. The Tuesday country remains the best with large amounts of old turf remaining and many of the banks still free of wire.
