History of the Hunt

History:	The Galtee Harriers was originally formed in 1897 as a private pack of hounds by Mr Abel Buckley of Galtee Castle, whose father was a very large landowner in the area. In 1910, Mr Michael ODwyer of Ballinvullen, Mitchelstown became Master and the pack of black and tan hounds were renamed the Mitchelstown Harriers. Disbanded at the out-break of World War II, the pack was revived in 1975 by a group of local sporting farmers.

The country includes parts of Cork, Tipperary and Limerick, which is varied with many banks and ditches. Flat woodland and forest. Best centres: Kilworth, Mitchelstown, Burncourt and Gortroe.
