History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt was formed at a meeting held in Ilminster in 1960. Roland Bragg and Peter Butterfield, who organised the meeting, were elected Joint Masters for the first season. Mr Bragg obtained hounds for that season mostly from the Holcombe Rogus.

Hunt Country

Hunt Country:

The country lies north of the A303 between Ilchester and Ilminster, running to Langport, Burrowbridge, East Lyng and North Curry. Some country is on loan from the Taunton Vale Harriers and Seavington Hunts. A large portion of the country includes the Somerset Levels with their famous rhynes (waterways), red sandstone (North Curry district), green sand (South Petherton district) and clay lands at Ashill and Curry Mallett and Ile Brewers district. Best Centres: Taunton, Ilminster and Langport. Adjacent Hunts: West Somerset Beagles and Park Beagles. Some Meets in Babcary District (Old Huckworthy Bassett Country).
