History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt was established in 1964. Hounds were obtained from the packs of the Fitzwilliam, the Warwickshire, the Atherstone and the Old Surrey & Burstow, through the generosity of their Masters. A new breeding programme began in 1985 of black and tan Kerry beagles, in cooperation with the Scarteen.

Hunt Country:

The country lies throughout the Netherlands, especially in the provinces of Noord-Holland, Utrecht, Gelderland and Overijsel. It can generally be divided into three districts. One part consists of pasture, plough and woodlands. Some of this is capital going and normally carries a good scent. Another part is a mixed farming area, mainly livestock. It is principally a grass country, though there are still areas of plough. This part is fenced with wooden gates and ditches, and is well wooded, alternating with large areas of moorland. To hunt all these areas a stout and fast horse with jumping quality is desirable. He must be a flyer and well bred, and courageous to the point that his performances at timber and water are completely reliable.
