History: | The Hunt, a foot pack, is an extension of the former Sedbergh and Lunesdale Foxhounds. The organization in its present form has prospered since 1948. Uniquely, the Lunesdale are a limited company. In the early 70s when the M6 cut through the middle of the country, the masters were advised to form a company to limit any liability. Consequently, since 1974 the Hunt has had no masters, only a chairman and management committee. |
Hunt Country: | The country is vast and varied. It stretches from Stainmoor in the north to Settle in the south. The country incorporates the three peaks of Whernside, Inglebrough and Pen-y-Gent. The majority of meets are in and around the Howgills near Sedbergh. In the main the country is kind to foot followers. Adjacent packs are the Coniston Fell Hounds, The Ullswater Fell Hounds and the Wensleydale Hounds. |
