History of the Hunt

History:	The pack was originally formed by Eric Elliott and Paul Lawson, Joint Masters, in 1952, using hounds from Mr Elliotts private pack, the Chesterfield and District Beagles. It was formerly known as the North Staffordshire Moorland Beagles, but for many years most have known it by the Masters name. The pack is entirely private, hounds being owned by the Master. Originally a pack of Beagles, in 2006 it changed to Harriers, and is now the only registered pack of Foot Harriers in Britain. Hunt Country

Hunt Country:

The country is that previously hunted by the Dove Valley Harriers, which ceased activities in 1914. It is mainly moorland and high pasture in the north, and suffers the adverse weather of the southern Pennines. The southern area is mostly dairy pasture and arable: this is hunted by kind permission of the Albrighton and North Staffordshire Foxhounds. Best centres are in the moorland and around Leek and Longnor. Only dog hounds are hunted; large hounds are required to tackle the extremely high walls and moorland country. There are invitation meets to Wales in late August and early September.
