History: | Records show that the New Forest Draghounds were originally started sometime prior to 1907; however, the pack was disbanded due to the First World War. The NFDH was re-established by Michael Thomas to carry on the traditions of the New Forest Buckhounds, whose uniform it still wears, with the additional aim of offering good homes to foxhounds. The majority of hounds currently in kennels have been kindly given to the NFDH by local Hunts. |
Hunt Country: | The country, which is still being developed, at present extends to within a radius of about 20 miles of Ringwood, using forestry commission, private land and bridleways. The Hunt policy is to share the cap with local supporting farmers. The Hunt welcomes invitations to hunt on new land. |
