History of the Hunt

Start Year: 1896
End Year: N/A
History: The pack was established at Shenley near Bletchley as the North Bucks Beagles in 1896 by the Rev'd E A Milne; he later converted to 19 inch Harriers, and two packs ¬Beagles and Harriers - were kept until 1922 wben Lt-Col D C Part took over and hunted them as Col Part's Harriers. The country was re-registered in the name of the North Bucks Beagles in 1932 by Douglas Chaworth-Musters who shared the Mastership with Peter How. The country included that of the former North Bucks Harriers, the Sherington Foot and Mr Widdrington's. The country formerly hunted by the Bushmead Beagles was added after they ceased hunting in 1938. Hounds were loaned to an artillery unit during the Second World War, but a small nucleus was maintained by Peter How during hostilities. The hounds have been hunted as trail hounds since February 2005 and hunt within the law.

Hunt Country

Hunt Country: The country lies in north Buckinghamshire and north Bedfordshire, and includes parts of Northamptonshire, Huntingdon and Cambridgeshire. Part of the south est of the country is on loan to the Stowe Beagles. The largest area is that hunted by the Oakley Foxhounds, but also extends into parts of the Fitzwilliam, Grafton, and Bicester with Whaddon Chase countries. The country is mainly arable but has a good proportion of grass in the south.
