History:	The Pack is a foot pack which was started by the late Major Ulf Machell in 1947 at the request of farmers in the district to control the fox population. Full member of the Central Committee of Fell Packs.

The country consists of the lower fells of the Furness and North Lonsdale area, and covers a mixture of open fell, common land and woodland. Adjoining packs: the Eskdale & Ennerdale to the north west; the Coniston to the north; otherwise the country is bounded by the sea.
