History of the Hunt

History:	The Pack is an amalgamation of the Palmer Milburn Beagles and Marlborough & District Beagles (formerly the Marlborough College Beagles). The Marlborough College Beagles were founded by boys from the college in 1952 and became a subscription pack (the Marlborough & District) in 2005. The Palmer Milburn Beagles were founded as a private pack in 1971 by Roger Palmer and Dickie Milburn to hunt a country largely unhunted by beagles previously (except for some of the old Farley Hill Beagles country near Reading). The Palmer Marlborough Beagles are a subscription pack. Pupils from Marlborough College still attend meets and are encouraged to whip-in. In 2020 the Palmer Marlborough merged with the Clinkard Meon Valley to form the Palmer Marlborough and Clinkard Meon Valley beagles

Hunt Country:

The country is bounded by Reading, Swindon, Chippenham, Salisbury and Andover. It has a mixture of terrains with the best centres being the eastern half of Salisbury Plain, the Marlborough Downs, the Vale of Pewsey and the southern Lambourn Downs.
