History of the Hunt

History:	The pack was formed in 1952 by Captain K P Bent. Hounds were obtained from the Jurby, Isle of Man, and Britannia Beagles. Further drafts have been obtained from the Eton College and the Old Berkeley Beagles. In 1956 the name of the Hunt was changed to RASC Pimpernel Beagles; in December 1959 it became once more the Pimpernel. The hounds, formerly owned by Major Routledge, became the property of the Hunt Committee in 1960 (A B Cole, Chairman). In 1962 the Master of Signals, The Royal Corps of Signals, authorised the addition of "Royal Signals" to the Hunt title. In 1970 the Committee was disbanded, and the pack became the property of the Jt Masters.

Hunt Country:

The country, hunted on foot, lies in the Portman country, part of the South Dorset and Wilton, with some South & West Wilts, and occasionally by invitation in the Blackmore & Sparkford Vale country. It is mainly hilly, with some vale, and there is a fair amount of plough.
