History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt was formed by Peter Boddy and his son, David, in February 1980 when they were given and loaned ten hounds from the North Warwickshire and the Isle of Man bloodhounds, and first hunted in October the same year. Whips were David Boddy and Annie Arkle, and Peter Boddy carried the horn. Peter Boddy and Jim Beardsley -Master of the Grove & Rufford Foxhounds qv 1977-79 and 1986-90 were the first Masters. After Peter Boddy died in 2001, David Boddy - Master, Grove and Rufford, 1996-2000 took over as huntsman. Graham Smith is now the owner and Master Huntsman.

Hunt Country:

The country lies in a fifty mile radius of Newark, hunting Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire, by invitation of farmers and landowners, working with the co-operation of local hunts, and hunting some country which cannot be hunted by foxhounds. Hounds hunt the clean boot and are followed mounted.
