History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt formed just after World War I, was disbanded in 1940 on the outbreak of World War II. In 1949 HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands received hounds from the Duke of Beaufort and the Meynell, and assumed the Mastership. Hounds were hunted by Mr Jos Gillisen, who became Joint Master with the Prince in 1956. In 1958, they both resigned. HRH Prince Bernhard, unable to fulfil his task as Master any longer, owing to his many other engagements, became President of the Hunt on June 16, 1958. In the same year Mr D C T Modderman entered office as Master and Huntsman. He resigned in 1965, to return as Master in 1969 for three seasons. In between Drs K van Santen had been Acting Master for a committee. Prof Dr A Staal succeeded as Master in 1972 and held office till 1982. Mr J J P Bakker came in office in 1982 and resigned after 22 years in 2004. In the same year the hunt faced a great loss as HRH Prince Bernhard of the Netherland died after a period of 46 years Hon President. Over the years the pack has been supplemented with hounds from many English and Irish packs. From these lines the hunt started breeding and held its first puppy show in 1985.
