History of the Hunt

History:	The Pack is owned by the Commandant of The Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. The Sandhurst Beagles were first formed during the summer of 1935 by the then Commandant of Sandhurst, Major Gen B D Fisher CB, CMG, DSO, to give gentleman cadets 'the opportunity of learning about hunting and hound management. The pack was disbanded for the duration of WW2 restarted in 1946 on the instructions of the Commandant, Major Gen FR Matthews DSO. In 1989 the Aldershot Beagles amalgamated with the Sandhurst Beagles and the hunt became known as The Sandhurst and Military Beagles, and in 1991 became The Sandhurst and Aldershot Beagles.

Hunt Country:

The country consists of that of the former Aldershot and the Sandhurst beagles. Land lying to the east of the Odiham-Alton-West Meon Road was on loan to the Clinkard Beagles. The Sandhurst and Aldershot hunts the Garth and South Berks country lying to the south of Reading and west of Hartley Wintney; the Vine and Craven country to the east and west of Basingstoke; the Hampshire Hunt country bounded to the east by the Odiham-Alton road, and to the west by the M3; and the Hursley Hambledon country between Stockbridge and Winchester.
