History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt was founded around 1760 to 1770 by Lord Tara and was then known as the Bellinter Harriers. When John Preston, the last of the Prestons (the Tara family name) died about 1870, "Bellinter" was left to G V Briscoe who hunted and maintained the pack at his own expense until 1897. In the will it was stated that they were no longer to be known as the Bellinter Harriers, and the name was changed to Tara Harriers.
