History of the Hunt

History:	The Pack, which hunts red deer, was established in 1896, at the suggestion of the then Master of the Devon and Somerset, to hunt the country into which the deer were spreading, and which lay beyond the limits of the regular Devon and Somerset territory. Best centres: Tiverton, Dulverton, Witheridge, Bampton and Chulmleigh.

The country, which lies almost wholly in Devon, is lent by the Devon and Somerset Staghounds, and lies south of the Taunton to Barnstaple railway. All, or parts of the following foxhound countries are hunted: the Tiverton, the Eggesford, the Dulverton Farmers Dulverton (West), the Torrington Farmers and the South Tetcott.
