History of the Hunt

History:	Year recognized: 1885. The pack was moved to Virginia in 1971. Year re-recognized: 1972. The pack is the oldest Beagle pack in the USA, having been established in Ipswich, MA in 1885 and was recognized at the first National Beagle Field Trials in Hyannis, MA. Since September 26, 2006, the pack is owned by the Waldingfield Ridge Lee Foundation, Inc, a Public Charity with 501(c)3 status with the IRS. All donations to the pack are tax-deductible. Mr. James Waldingfield Appleton was Master from 1885 to 1942, followed by Mrs. Bayard Tuckerman Jr from 1946 to 2003. Mr. Joshua Child was Joint Master from 1946 to 1958. The pack moved to Virginia in 1971

Hunt Country:

Lies north, west and south of Charlottesville in Albemarle County, VA and consists of gently rolling farmland with coverts, small streams and woodlands, hunted by the kind permission of the Masters of the Farmington Hunt Club. Cubbing is in Cumberland County, VA.
