History of the Hunt

History:	In 1828-29 two packs, the Dubber and the Hollywood, hunted the present Ward Union country. In 1830 these were amalgamated and kept by Mr Gerard as the Wards. Mr Alley procured fallow deer and at a later date red deer. In 1840 Lord Howth brought Mr Broadleys Staghounds from Leamington and hunted them with a subscription till 1842, when they were sold to the Dublin Garrison and called the Garrison Hounds. When the Crimean War broke out in 1854, the Garrison Hounds and the Ward Hounds were amalgamated as the Ward Union under the Mastership of Peter Alley. Moved to the present kennels in 1979. The club will continue to hunt within the law.
