History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt was formed in late 1979 by Messrs Adsett, Fairfield, Kensett, Perry and Roberts, with the help of the Ytene and Three Counties Mink Hounds who drafted the first hounds. Trencher fed for their first three seasons, hounds have been in kennels since 1983. In 1996 the Hunt formed a supporters club with a £10 annual fee. No hunting took place during the summer of 2001 due to foot and mouth restrictions. During the 2003-04 season, the Hunt celebrated its 25th anniversary, with two of the founder masters still in office.

Hunt Country:

The country lies between the Hampshire Mink Hunt to the west and the Kent & Sussex Mink Hounds to the east. The southern rivers all run to the sea through the South Downs and range from the free-flowing Rother to the slow running Adur. The northern rivers empty into the Thames and due to urbanisation are less hunted. Best centres: Lewes, Pulborough, Petworth and Billingshurst.
