History of the Hunt

History:	The Hunt was founded in 1901 as the Wicklow Harriers. It was restarted in 1936 by Major Bayly as a farmers pack, hunting fox. The name was changed to the Wicklow Hunt in 1957, when R B Lister became Master. The pack continues as a predominantly farmers pack to this day.

Country lies in south County Wicklow and north County Wexford, encompassing the coastal strip from Gorey in the south to approximately 8 miles north of Arklow to Brittas Bay and stretching inland to Rathdrum. It is bounded by the Bray Harriers to the north, the Island Hunt to the south, and the Shillelagh & District to the west. Mixed country with banks, ditches and stone walls.
