Welcome to Baily’s Hunting Directory

Often referred to as ” the red-backed bible of hunting”  Baily’s continues to be the best and only comprehensive listing of packs of hounds of all types from around the world. Today there so much more to Baily’s than just our well known ‘Directory’ section which has been the ‘go-to’ hunting resource since 1897.  Extensive subscriber feedback tells us that this on-line version, with its daily updates, continues to be the primary resource for those with an interest in the social history or field sport of hunting with hounds. Baily’s provides subscribers with unique access to the past, present, and aspirations for the future of hunting with hounds.

For each hunt, the Directory section has 3 elements:-

A listing page containing hunt details,
A gallery page featuring the best images from that hunt,
A related services page featuring hirelings, liveries, etc. available in that hunt area.

In addition to images on the hunt gallery pages captured by some of today’s best photographers of hounds and hunting scenes, we have a vintage gallery that features images from our archives dating from about 1890 onwards.

The ‘Shows and Events section’ features hound show results from 1835 and then annually from 1897 onwards together with individual hunt puppy show results  going back to 1893.

In the ‘News and Articles’ section subscribers have access to a repository of hundreds of interesting and helpful articles from some great authors covering the world of hunting with hounds and the country lifestyle, latest news from hunts worldwide and a rapidly growing repository of hunting verse. Our games section which is under the ‘lifestyle tab’ contains some intriguing and regularly updated puzzles and quizzes to keep you amused.

We are pleased to introduce a new section ‘Did You Know’ – a growing repository of hunting related facts, and curious hunting and hound related incidents.

We have two ‘free to access’ sections;- one of which is our ‘hound name selector’. To date this has proved to be an valuable asset for hunts Worldwide when finding ‘just the right name’ for each puppy in a litter. It is updated regularly and currently contains over 5280 names. In addition, we are delighted to be able to share a regular section on collecting and identifying hunt buttons led by one of the World’s foremost authorities on hunt buttons including a very active forum for both new and experienced collectors.

Finally, within our constantly evolving online store, we have a full range of essential items for hunting people:- perhaps a printed Directory to start or complete a collection? Perhaps our Hunting Companion, that invaluable reference work, the free to download and colour in prints, or one of our latest publications.

Our latest news, shows, events and reports
